Prayer is one of the greatest gifts we can give one another. Prayers of petition serve to remind us that God expects us to care for one another and for all his creation. We can pray about the ordinary experiences of life— for people who are sick, for someone who needs a job, for help in our school work, for a safe trip. We pray for peace in our families and in our world. We can also express our sorrow and contrition to God in our prayer.

The power of prayer
When I was captured by the human trafficker in Cambodia, my parents quickly asked the whole church to pray for me. While I was confined in there I had a chance to contact my parent back home and my mother taught me how to pray. I prayed earnestly and miracle happened, the local police came to look for me. There were about 10000 people in that compound but I was the only one who got rescued, they sent me to the Embassy of Malaysia and then I was able to come back home safely.
After my grandfather passed away, I couldn't cope with the grieve and eventually turned to drugs. For more than 12 years my life went from sad to hopeless and helpless. I lost the ability to work, study and all my saving were gone. Addiction also further destroyed my relationship with family and friends. Everything changed when I finally kneeled down and prayed to Jesus. I overcame the addiction with the Word of God and prayer. Jesus healed me physically, mentally and spiritually.
