This year, our Basic Ecclesial Community (Area 8) joyfully celebrated Pongal together, marking a meaningful moment of cultural sharing and unity. Though traditionally a Tamil harvest festival, Pongal is also a celebration of gratitude — thanking God for His providence and the fruits of human labour.

The celebration was made especially memorable by the enthusiastic participation of our Chinese brothers and sisters, many of whom joined wholeheartedly, even donning traditional attire. Their joyful involvement reflected the strong spirit of friendship and mutual respect within our community.

For many, this was a first-time experience of celebrating Pongal in such an inclusive way. It reminded us that when rooted in gratitude and togetherness, cultural traditions become bridges that strengthen fellowship and unity. We are grateful to our parish priest for encouraging initiatives that nurture harmony within our diverse parish family.
