“The glorious presence of the Lord filled the temple” (2 Chronicles 7:1)

In The Temple were

1. The ark of the covenant.

The ark of the covenant makes concrete the active presence of God. To guide, protect and hear prayer.

2. The altar for burnt sacrificial offerings of cattle, sheep and goats.

In the Synagogue

The Book of the Law/Scripture is proclaimed and preached.

In the Catholic Church

1. a) The altar and tabernacle is the temple.
2. b)   The lectern is the Synagogue.

“Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house.

I will worship at your temple with deepest awe.” (Psalm 5:7)

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16).
