The New Church is built in the likeness of a tent. Why?

Coming out of Slavery in Egypt, led by Moses, the Israelites journeyed to the promised land.

And the Lord God resided in the midst of the people in the Tent of the ark of the covenant.

As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and hover at its entrance while the Lord spoke with Moses.

Inside the tent of meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. (Exodus 33:99, 11)

We, too, are journeying to the promised land, our true homeland, heaven. And the Lord Jesus Christ reside in our midst in the Eucharist in the tabernacle in our new tent shaped church.

“The word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). To protect, to guide and hear our prayer.

My house shall be a house of prayer, says the Lord.

In that house, everyone who asks receives.

And the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 21: 13, Luke 11:10).
